Job Responsibilities
The primary responsibility for this position is building and maintaining Rhomobile development service and IDE RhoHub, and the enterprise app store in the cloud RhoGallery. You will be building and tuning the user experience of our sites using the latest web technologies.
The right candidate will have solid development skills in JavaScript, CSS, HTML and UX design. While the title and primary role is Web Developer, we want someone with product management instincts: help to drive priorities, design new features, and interact with our open source community. We think this makes the job much more exciting and diverse than most Ruby hacker slots out there.
Required Background
- Demonstrated ability to design and develop web applications from the ground up
- Deep understanding of web application architectures
- Building clean and beautiful user interfaces
- Manage advertising and marketing campaigns aimed at generating leads for our sales team including marketing automation campaigns
- Strong experience with JavaScript, CSS, frameworks like jQuery
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Desired Background
- Building web applications with Ruby
- Understanding cloud technologies
- Experience with Ruby web frameworks such as Rails, Sinatra
- Web services knowledge, particularly with enterprise apps
- An interest in learning mobile application development
- Experience using Git and Github

The primary responsibility for this position is building the Ruby-based RhoSync app integration server. RhoSync keeps enterprise application data current and available on users’ smartphones. You will also maintain and build critical internal systems for our development service and IDE RhoHub, and the enterprise app store in the cloud RhoGallery. Required Background (you should love to think about and work with any of these):
- Building scalable infrastructures with multiple data systems
- Defining and implementing robust services in the cloud
- Programming with Ruby and Ruby-related technologies (Sinatra/Rack/Rails)
- Experience with AWS, EC2, S3, Heroku or Engine Yard
- You must be an advocate of TDD/BDD, iterative development and efficient delivery through Agile methods
Desired Background (you should be ready to learn about any of these):
- Modern data systems like MongoDB, Cassandra, especially Redis
- Mobile development on Android, iPhone, Blackberry, or Windows Mobile / Windows Phone 7
- JavaScript, JavaScript frameworks, CSS
- BDD tools like rspec/cucumber
- Experience using Git and Github
- Experience working on and experimenting with open source projects
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Collaboration with team members, occasional pair programming, providing accurate estimations, timelines, costs, and risks associated with development

Ruby Application Developer

Job Responsibilities
The primary responsibility for this position is building sample mobile applications with our Ruby-based platform. We ship with sample applications to mobilize SugarCRM and Siebel Field Service. But we have a long list of other sample applications to help demonstrate how the platform is used. There is a lot of freedom for the developer to choose their own path in this mission (that is, choose and invent their own applications).
The right candidate will have strong frontend development skills: JavaScript, CSS, and general interaction design. Ideally this has been applied in the mobile space at some point in their career. While the title and primary role is developer, as essentially the initial “user” of new features of the Rhodes framework, we want someone with some product management instincts: helping to drive priorities, document new features, and interact with our development community. We think this makes the job much more interesting and diverse than most Ruby hacker slots out there.
Required Background:
- Strong Ruby experience
- Demonstrated ability to create great user interfaces
- Deep portfolio of web applications
Desired Skills:
- Experience with web application frameworks such as Rails, Merb or Camping
- Strong JavaScript. Particularly helpful would be familiarity with IUI and other “web styling libraries”
- Experience with enterprise applications, particular CRM, field service, project management or IT helpdesk
- Web services knowledge particularly in relation to such enterprise apps
- Degree in computer science or related technical field
- An interest in learning mobile application development
